Being serious about my faith is something that I have not done all the time. I could categorize my faith as being “lukewarm” sometimes.
In Revelation 3:14-16, Jesus says, “And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Jesus is saying how He knows the works of the Laodiceans. They are neither cold or hot in their faith. They are lukewarm, or in the grey area. They are living for the Lord, but then again they are not. He goes on to say that He would rather us be either cold or hot for Him. It makes Him sick if we are lukewarm.
I look at myself first. Am I cold, lukewarm, or hot? There are days where I’m all in, and there are days I don’t pick up my Bible and spend a one on one time with the Lord. Is it His fault? No, it’s mine. What am I going to do to fix that? Make the time to spend with the Lord. Putting everything aside and living wholly for Him. It may be hard, but I would rather be hot than cold. I would rather be hot than lukewarm. Being cold is as if you weren’t even living for the Lord. Being lukewarm is not the best choice either because it makes my Lord sick. I’m ashamed of being lukewarm. It is time to fix that.
What about you? Where are you at in your relationship with the Lord? Are you cold, lukewarm, or hot? I look at the kids at school. I pass by many in the halls. I sit with some of them in class. Do I see Jesus in some of them? Yes, some, but not many. This world, or Satan, has gotten a hold on so many people, that I see my own classmates living as if they were just another person passing through. That’s not the way it should be. Each and every human being is created for a purpose, but it is their choice whether they want to follow God (The One who gave them the purpose), or follow the world (which has no purpose). If you are a born again Christian, it’s time to stand up and forget what other people may think. I’m not judging, I am stating a fact. I’m stating what I see. The Bible says that people will be known by their fruits. We do not have much longer on this earth. The rapture could happen after you read this sentence. It could happen in a month. It could happen in 50 years. I do not know, but I know that we are one day closer each day. There is a lost and dying world out there, and if we don’t take a stand, who will? Who cares what someone says to you. Who cares if you lose friends. They hated Jesus, and my friend, they will for sure hate you. The Lord will provide you with the right friends. If He replaces your current friends, maybe that tells you that you haven’t had the right friends all along.
Take a look around. See if there are people who are living for the Lord. Read the news articles that talk about what is going on in this world today. WAKE UP! If you are lukewarm, it’s time to get hot and on fire for Christ. It’s time to go out and be Jesus to others. I can’t emphasize this enough. Forget what your peers will say because if God is for you, who can be against you? I don’t want to be the only one who is on fire for Christ. I want you to jump on this ride too, because it is worth it! Get involved in a good Bible believing church. Get in the right group of friends. Get into God’s Word. Will you join me?
