Life often can be compared to a race.  There are people who will cheer us on, and those who will discourage us.  There are obstacles, and there are times when we have spurts of energy.  These characteristics make up who we are.

When we hit road blocks and hurdles, we often want to give up.  But, God’s Word reminds us of His strength.  It is in these tough times when all we can do is rely on His power by praying and reading the Bible.  Then, we will be strong enough to get back up and keep running, and God will use our pains and weaknesses to benefit others and give Himself glory.

We will also encounter times when our lives are pleasurable.  In these moments, we are to praise the Lord for His many blessings He has given us.  We should also use our strength to encourage others by ministering to them with loving words and Scripture.

To finish the race successfully, surround yourself with those who will uplift and encourage you.  Those who are pressing toward the finish line for the eternal prize in heaven.  Also, read the Word and pray because that is the most important thing that will keep you going.  If you run with fools, your main focus will be self glorification and a physical prize which will only lead to destruction.

Don’t listen to the discouraging words of the crowd.  Only keep your ear open to those who will cheer you on.  Those are your true friends.  They want the best in you, not the worst.

Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”

1 Corinthians 9:24-25 “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.25And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”

Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

*Run the race diligently, my friend.  You can do it!  You have a prize waiting for you at the finish line.
