Fear: a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc.,whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid
Whether you are young, old, black, white, Christian, or non-Christian, we all have experienced the anxious, doubtful, four letter word called fear. It creeps into our minds and courses through our nervous system, making us feel an uncomfortable feeling inside. Fear is the lie that Satan whispers in our ear, telling us that there is nothing we can do, and that things are not going to work out.
When we let the thing we fear sink in our mind, we have a choice. Do I give in and sink down to the bottom, or do I take the predicament I am and give it to the One Who is in control? Ultimately, God is in control, so even if we try to take the wheel, God always has a hold of it, fulfilling His plan for our life.
On a personal level, I admit that fear is probably the #1 thing that I struggle with. I am always thinking ahead, worrying and anxiously trying to plan things out. Especially with the health issues I have been and currently am dealing with, I fear for the worst. I fear for what will happen in the future. But, with God’s help, I feel like I am trying to be more brave. Trying to be stronger and bolder, not just with my health, but with my personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
In this day and time, it is hard to not fit in with the crowd. Man fears what others will think of him, so he/she decides to not even fight and just give in to what this world has to offer. I will warn you now to NOT be in with the in-crowd, but to be in with the out-crowd. That’s the only way you will prosper. Be brave enough to not be like this world. You will be better off in eternity. Don’t live in the here and now because it will lead you to a burning and destructive place that you don’t want to go to.
Oh fear, you have had a hold of me for so long, but with God’s strength, I want to be bolder and step out of my fearful jail cell. You don’t offer anything positive or good in life, yet God does. Fear, you are a lie, and you are of the devil.
*This blog was inspired by the amazing and talented Christian artist, Moriah Peters. God has used her and her music to be a blessing in my life, and I encourage you to go listen to her “BRAVE” album! You will be glad that you did…also, one of her songs on the album is titled, “Oh Fear.”
Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
