“Follow God’s lead. He will never direct you wrong.” -Author Unknown
As I sit here and type this blog, I am reflecting on all the times recently when I have tried to do things on my own instead of letting God take first hand. In the midst of storms, stress, busyness, laughter, and tears, man tends to try to figure things out on his/her own. When we start to worry, what is the first thing we do? We start to panic. Then, we start to stress. When we start to stress, we don’t know what to do or how to handle the situation we are in. That’s what brings me to encourage you and myself to let go and let God.
What does it mean to let go and let God? Looking at Scripture itself, God provides verses and verses full of reminders that we cannot do this life on our own, and we ultimately need Him to take the lead because He knows us better than we know ourselves. When we start to worry, let’s cling to these verses: Philippians 4:6-7 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” … 1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” … Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” … Philippians 4:8-9 “Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there by any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”
Clearly, if God is telling us to hand over our problems to Him, He really means it. When we are anxious about are future, and we worry about things like our career, that big test that requires a lot of studying, whether or not an illness will be healed or treated, etc., we need to cast our burdens on God because He has everything planned out and put together before we even know it. Find peace in the Lord by praying, worshiping, reading the Bible, and LETTING GO. He has never broken His promises, and He never will break His promises. God knows what’s best for us, and just like Proverbs 3:5-6 says, if we trust in Him with ALL of our heart and lean not on our own understanding, but His, He will direct our paths for us. Isn’t that amazing? It is so humbling to know that me and you, imperfect beings, are guided and can be guided by God, a perfect being that is already standing at the end of our lives. He’s already there, but He’s also walking in the midst of our lives with us. Instead of coming up with your own plans for life, surrender those plans to God and allow Him to show you greater things He has in store. Let go, and let God. In Him is peace, truth, grace, mercy, healing, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control, joy, and most importantly, eternal life. Leave it all behind to run to the life God has in store for you.
